My name is Joy. I was born and raised in a pastor’s home where church was a way of life. As a child, I excelled in school, consistently scoring 100% in mathematics. My father was proud of me; he carried me along as he did his preaching work in the village, and believed I had a bright future. However, behind our family was a long history of witchcraft. While my father chose to follow Christ, many relatives did not accept Christ but remained deeply involved in occult practices.
While in Form One at a national school in Meru, I encountered an aunt who was widely feared for practicing witchcraft. After she gave me money, my life changed dramatically. I became overwhelmed by an unusual spirit of constant sleepiness, my academic performance collapsed from a B+ average to failing grades, and I could no longer think clearly. Students nicknamed me tse tse fly because of my sleeping habits. Although my family confronted the aunt, nothing changed. My father was even advised to seek traditional protection because people claimed his God could not protect me.
The oppression continued to grow. I drifted into prostitution, alcoholism, and destructive relationships. I moved from school to school and later from town to town, unable to settle anywhere. Although I gave my life to Christ while in Form Four and still managed to score a B- in KCSE, I lacked sound biblical teaching and soon returned to my old lifestyle.
My family also suffered physical persecution over land disputes, adding to the spiritual battles we were already facing. To help support my mother and younger siblings, I turned to prostitution. I wandered from church to church, desperately searching for God, yet every attempt ended the same way—I would fall back into alcohol and immorality. Sometimes I remained drunk for up to two days without sleep. Deep inside, however, there was always a hunger for God. Even while living in sin, I would read my Bible and search for answers, but something always pulled me back into bondage.
Everything changed in early 2025. While at home, I overheard a preacher on Morning Cloud TV, and the message was a bit different from what I was used to. His teaching immediately captured my heart and exposed the deception I had lived under for years. The following Sunday, after another church service ended on MBCI TV, I searched for more teaching and found Morning Cloud TV again, and the same preacher was teaching. From that day, I became devoted to listening to the messages on Morning Cloud TV. Even without my own phone, I could download sermons by Apostle Takim from YouTube onto my father’s phone and listen to them repeatedly while doing household chores.
As I continued feeding on the Word of God, light entered my heart. The lies that had shaped my thinking for years could no longer survive. The teachings helped me understand God’s truth, and the chains of witchcraft, alcoholism, sexual immorality, and hopelessness began to break.
I became so transformed that I started urging my family to listen to the same messages. Instead of accepting the truth, many mocked me because my outward circumstances had not yet changed. I was still a pastor’s daughter who had become a single mother of two children, living with my parents and depending on others for support. Some relatives questioned how I could teach them about God when my life appeared to be a failure. Yet I had found something greater than temporary miracles. I had found the truth of God’s Word.
As I continued growing spiritually, the atmosphere in my family began to change. Relationships that had been filled with conflict were restored. I would not entirely blame my relatives on this because I used to be a violent person before, and this had caused the division.
The Lord gave me strength to overcome the sinful lifestyle that had once controlled me. People who expected me to return to prostitution were disappointed because God had completely changed my heart.

My relationships have been restored, my thinking has been renewed, and I now live in the freedom that only God’s truth can give.
